Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure now at EPCOT

We are getting the chance to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure before it opens to the public.  We were able to snag a passholder preview of Disney World’s latest ride and made a day of it! If you want to read about our full day (and planning) click here. If you want to go straight to our experience at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, then continue reading.

The “Ratatouille Area”

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is the featured attraction in the new area built into the France Pavilion at EPCOT. Since we got a passholder preview, we had to show our confirmation email to gain access into this new area. Built behind the existing France pavilion, this “Ratatouille area”, is more than just a ride. The area looks like a street in Paris with cobbled stones and cute storefronts.  There is great detail everywhere you look including the large fountain shown below.  On top, you can see Remy shooting out of a champagne bottle on top of the fountain!

Also in the “Ratatouille area”, there are restrooms and the new creperie restaurant, which we will talk about in more detail below. This is also a good opportunity for a pit stop, before heading to the ride.

The “Ratatouille ride”

Even though only passholders with reserved times could be here today, there was still a posted 25 minute wait. There is a new “Lighting Lane” entrance, but we are able to walk right through the “Stand By” entrance. And the line goes fairly fast, under 20 minutes.  In addition, there are some rooms we go through that make us feel like we’re heading to Gusteau’s restaurant. At the end, we grab our 3-D glasses and get into a rat-shaped car and your adventure begins!

The “Ratatouille” ride is apparently very similar to the ride in Disneyland Paris. Also, similar in style to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios. Like the latter, it has no height restriction so little ones can ride it. But the experience is much different. The rat-shaped car is for a reason, you are a rat in this adventure! Meet Remy before falling into Gusteau’s as you scurry to hide before being “mopped” into the storage room. Then continue back to the restaurant where you are discovered and the chase is on! You find your way to back to Remy at the end to dine with the other rats. Such a cute ride… Once ended, our daughter asks if we can ride it again. Luckily during the preview, we are able to just hop back on and ride again. This time in less than 10 minutes.

The “Creperie”

Once we leave the ride after the second time, we decide to check the wait at the creperie. The creperie has 2 options. You can wait in line for counter service, or you can sit in the restaurant. We pick sitting down. The wait time is about 10 minutes, and we think it’s best to try it out now. We don’t know when we will get a chance again after opening to everyone, so we put our name in. While we wait, we are able to get some more photos done by a Disney photographer in front of the fountain. Becky also has enough time to buy some new Ratatouille related merchandise at the kiosk outside.

We are glad to get a chance to sit down again, and crepes sound great. They have a prix fixe menu with a soup or salad and choice of entrée crepe or galette. It also comes with a glass of hard cider, soda or juice, and a choice of dessert crepe for $33. At first, we were not going to get this, but our daughter loves soup. So Becky decides to get this with a hard cider. Our daughter enjoyes the potato leek soup. Becky has the Savoyarde galette (ham and cheese), and we split the Pomme dessert crepe (caramel apple). Paul gets the Saumon galette (smoked salmon) and water.

The galettes, or buckwheat crepes, are the savory entrée portions. Paul enjoys his salmon crepe, squeezing some lemon in it, and rolling up part of it to eat. The taste of the buckwheat is different but overall tasty and satisfying. Becky’s “ham” is actually prosciutto, which is okay if that’s what you like, but a little different than what we expected.

Summary

We were so happy to get a sneak preview of Disney’s latest area and attraction. We got to stay in the “Ratatouille” area for about 2 hours which was great. It was a wonderful time, going on the ride twice, as well as trying out the new creperie. We don’t know when we will be able to spend so much time here again once open to the public. Any new ride or restaurant will be much more crowded then our time today. But, we’ll definitely be back for the ride again at some point. The creperie had some good options, but may be better for a quick stop through the counter service window next time. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure now at EPCOT!
